𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐭 𝐀𝐧𝐲 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞.

 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐭 𝐀𝐧𝐲 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞.

The constitution of OLF respects the right to faith of citizens. OLF believes in non-interference in religious affairs. OLF understands that the Oromia, Nations and Nationalities Synods used the rules and rights within ETOC, the constitution of FDRE and their Oromia citizenship right in their current movement. We believe that believers of all faiths have the right to follow their faith's discipline without infringing on others' freedom. Accordingly, it is the right of citizens of Oromia to mobilize, support and follow their new Synod respecting the discipline of their faith and Oromo Safu.

The ETOC, throughout history, has legitimized oppressive regimes all through the agonizing years of our past and less to tell of its good images. ETCO's involvement in land appropriation, exclusion, tolerating or spreading dehumanizing rhetoric, favoritism, and suppressing the right to use one's language in church services are some of the intolerable injustices against the oppressed people. It is sad to notice that ETOC failed to see these injustices, discrimination, injured feelings and broken morals of their colleagues and believers. The OLF thinks it is time for EOTC to look inside and reflect on corrective measures that will help the church to reconcile with the present and the future. It will be constructive to ETOC if it avoids to be used as political base and instrument to avoid further responsibility that will follow.

The OLF and citizens of Oromia know that there are parties who have taken ETOC as a base and cover to pursue their political ends. This has escalated to violence and chaos in Finfinne these days. We condemn any political party and group using religion as a cover to pursue political ends.

The OLF reminds citizens of Oromia and all others to take maximum care and distance themselves from such uncontrolled movement.

Finally we remind all stakeholders that the fundamental solution to the more than century old Ethiopian political and security problem is the unresolved war with the struggle of the Oromo people. Ethiopia will be at peace if it resolves its problem with Oromia. OLF will play its role if Ethiopia decides to solve this problem once for all.
