The Demand of Oromo Students at Wallaga University

OromoProtests what caused today massive crackdown on Walaga University? The information we pieced together from multiple sources indicates the following sequence of events.
-In the last weeks various OPDO leaders came to campus and the town , and attempted to persuade students to abandon the demand over the Master Plan and resume class. But the effort did not bear fruit.
- Yesterday evening students were informed that those arrested during the first protest were sentenced from 2 years to 6 years jail time.
- In the same evening a person was spotted holding hand grade. Students caught him, notified the security and asked them to detain and investigate. But the person was released immediately without any explanation. This strengthened suspicion that either the regime has armed certain students or plain cloth security agents are passing as students.
- Consequently this morning students presented three key demands as condition for resumption of school.
1) Opening of free public forum to discuss the issues related to the Master Plan. 2) Immediate retraction of the jail term and release all arrested students 3) Immediate withdrawal of federal police and Agazi forces from campus.
- Soon federal police came to arrest those students who delivered the message. - In response students began protesting and chanting. - Truckload of federal police and Agazi reinforcement began arriving and invaded the campus. - Students retreated to their dormitories - Federal police and Agazi sealed off the campus and moved on dormitories. - Students barricaded themselves - Federal Police and Agazi broke-down doors and walls, beating students. - A number of students fell/thrown from buildings causing at-least one death due to such fall.
As of this time, there is six reported death which of three is confirmed. Medics at Nekemte hospital confirm at-least 200 injured students have been admitted to emergency room. Student source r claims a large number of injured students remain trapped on campus. Campus remained sealed off. No visitation by family members has been allowed at the hospital.
